Student and Postgrad Opportunities with Washington State Attorney General

Greetings from the Washington State Attorney General’s Office!

On behalf of the Washington State Attorney General’s Office, we are hoping you will share the following information with your students:

Each fall the Office of the Attorney General conducts an Honors Program during which we entertain applications from third-year law students and judicial clerks.  At the end of this process, we will extend offers of Assistant Attorney General positions to approximately 5 applicants.  In addition to our Honors Program for third-year law students, we are recruiting second-year law students interested in serving as a paid law clerk next summer.

For 3Ls:  To apply and be considered for an Assistant Attorney General position commencing next fall via our Honors Program, interested applicants will need to apply by visiting the posting located HERE and follow the application directions. The deadline to apply is August 10, 2026. Applications will be reviewed and invitations to interview will then be extended.

For 2Ls:  To apply and be considered for a paid law clerk position next summer via our 2L Fall Law Clerk Recruitment Program, interested applicants will need to visit the posting and apply directly to it. A link to the 2L posting is HERE. The deadline to apply is September 7, 2026. Applications will be reviewed and invitations to interview will then be extended.

Information Session:  The Office will be hosting two virtual presentations about our 2026 Honors Program on June 30, 2026. All rising third-year law students and clerks of the appellate and federal courts are eligible to apply for the 2026 Honors Program. This event is open to those who are interested in either considering submitting an application to serve as a Honoree with the AGO, or who wish to learn more about the Honors Program. Attendees will learn about the Honors Program application process and tips for increasing your chances for success with placement. It’s a chance for law students to learn about the important and diverse work of the AGO, its many divisions, and how law students can serve the AGO and the people of Washington as a permanent entry-level Assistant Attorney General.

Students will need to register for this event using the links below:
