What is SELSCon/Progress?
- Formerly known as SEMJF (Southeastern Minority Job Fair), SELSCon/Progress has a 30+ year track record of success.
- A chance to interview for summer and entry level post-graduate positions with top law firms, government agencies, and public interest organizations.
- In 2023, employers representing 27 states and Washington, DC, conducted over 1,900 interviews.
- Employers participate to expand their candidate pool; they review applications and select candidates for interviews.

Why Participate?
- Timed early in the recruiting season.
- Exclusive Information Sessions provide opportunities to learn more and make connections.
- Submit up to 20 applications to interviewing employers, and an unlimited number of applications to Resume Collect employers who plan to contact candidates directly.
- Engage in up to 10 interviews over the two days of the Program, with employers that have an affirmative interest in you.
- Refine your personal pitch, hone your ability to field questions, and develop the level of endurance needed for demanding call-back interviews later in the recruiting process.
The Process
- Part 1: Registration and Review Period
- REGISTER by submitting your Resume VIA SYMPLICITY OCI: “SELSC 2024” by Thursday May 9.
- Registration does not obligate you to apply, but you can’t apply if you don’t register.
- Registered students will receive access to their Symplicity account on May 22.
- Opportunities (with hiring criteria, preferred qualifications, and other details) will be viewable in Symplicity beginning on May 31.
- Some employers will present Information Sessions during the review and application period. Details will be available in your Symplicity account.
- Part 2: Submitting Applications
- A Resume and Candidate Statement are included in every application.
- Some employers also require a Cover Letter and/or a Transcript. Interviewees must provide a writing sample via our virtual platform, Flo Recruit.
- Specifics of the application process will be provided to those who register.
- The application period: June 5 – 11:58 pm EDT on June 17.
- The June 17 application deadline cannot be extended, so plan ahead!
- Part 3: Selections and Interviews
- Submission of an application is your commitment to an interview if selected.
- Interview/Alternate selections will be available on June 27.
- You are limited to 10 Interviews/Alternate selections (combined). If you receive more, you must reduce your opportunities to 10.
- You may not selectively decline interviews under any other circumstance, but you may withdraw entirely if you accept a position.
- Interview times will be scheduled for you, and your interview schedule will be available on July 5.
- You must be available for interviews between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm Eastern Time on both Thursday, July 11 and Friday, July 12. Individual scheduling requests cannot be accommodated.
