Promenade!

The law school is excited to partner with the City of Memphis, the Riverfront Development Corporation, the Downtown Memphis Commission, and the Cossitt Library on a new project, entitled “Promenade!”.

The idea of Promenade! is to draw attention to various spots along the riverfront that are currently under-utilized but have great potential, and “activate” them with a variety of activities and improvements throughout the month of October. The two key areas that Promenade! focuses on right now are the area behind the law school overlooking the river along the promenade walkway and the beautiful green space behind the Cossitt Library next door. Both areas are connected by the walkway along the promenade and offer amazing river views and park-like settings.

The law school will host the kick-off event for Promenade! with a special tailgate for the University of Memphis Tiger’s football away-game vs USF on Friday, October 2nd from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. We will show the game on a large projection screen on the back overlook area behind the law school, with free food from Slider Inn and plenty of fun and games in the Promenade! space. We will have picnic tables and some seating provided for guests, but feel free to bring your own chairs, as well as coolers with your choice of drinks (Levitt Shell-style). We’ll watch the game as the sun sets over the Mississippi River and cheer the Tigers on throughout the night. Get there early to make sure you get food and a great seat, as well as for some special surprises before the game!

Mark your calendars for the tailgate on Oct. 2nd and if you have additional questions you can ask Preston Battle, your SBA President, or Ryan Jones, the law school’s director of communications,  and they can tell you more about this tailgate event, as well as more about Promenade! itself, if you are interested.
