Pro Bono Opportunity!

Shelby County Court Cost Clinic, July 30, 2022, is a great opportunity for students to get pro bono hours.

Below are services to be offered: 

-Volunteer attorneys will be presenting court cost waivers on behalf of registrants. 7 out of 8 judges for General Sessions-Criminal Court will be presiding.  This is a BIG deal because most folks owe court costs, which impact their driver’s license and ability to get expungements.  

-Shelby County Child Support Services will be reviewing cases for modification purposes, program assistance, and driver’s license holds. 

-Expungement service for General Sessions cases.  Expungement research will be done by Clerk’s Office.  Volunteers will review file with client and make sure they sign necessary documents/orders.

-Shelby County rental assistance program representatives will be on-site to accept applications 

-Driver’s License reinstatement support services / Drive While You Pay programs will be on-site for assistance  

-Manhood University is offering $2,500 for driver’s license reinstatement for any registrant who completes program
