NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE CHRISTIAN SORONEN AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN ORAL ADVOCACY!

Christian Soronen Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy was established in memory of Christian Soronen, a 2007 graduate of University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. The scholarship will be awarded to a third-year law student in good academic standing. The student must have been a member of a moot court travel team. Third-year students who have been a member of a mock trial team, alternative dispute resolution team and have competed in the Advanced Moot Court Competition are also eligible. Preference will be given to students who have excelled in inter-school and in-school competitions, members of the Moot Court Board, students enrolled in the Certificate in Advocacy program, and students who have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to the law school’s advocacy program.

We are now accepting applications for the Christian Soronen Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy.  The official announcement and statement of the requirements is below.  The deadline for applications is 4:00 pm Monday, April 4.  To apply, please submit a resume and a letter (addressed to the Selection Committee) explaining your qualifications for the award and reasons the Committee should select you.  Submit applications electronically to Director of Advocacy Barbara Kritchevsky at bkrtchvs@memphis.edu.  It will be easiest for the Committee if you submit the application in a single pdf document.  The subject line of your email should state your name and that the attachment is your application for the Soronen Award.  Please address any questions about the award or the application process to Director of Advocacy Barbara Kritchevsky.
