NATIONAL MOCK TRIAL TEAM TRYOUTS – SIGN UP BY WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26TH
To all 2L and 3L Students:
A reminder that tryouts for the 2016-17 National Mock Trial Team will be held on Friday, October 28th, and on Monday, October 31st. Please register for your National Trial Team tryout by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26th.
2016-17 Regional Competition: The National Trial Team will compete in the Regional Rounds of the National Trial Competition at Washington University in St. Louis School of Law on February 16-18, 2017.
Preparation: Applicants will be expected to give a closing argument based on State of Lone Star v. Martin, a case file from a previous National Trial Competition. The closing argument should be 5-7 minutes in length. Applicants can argue for either the State or Defendant. The tryout will be 15 minutes in length, including both the closing argument and a follow-up discussion with the Trial Team coaches.
Registration for a Tryout: Interested students should register for the National Mock Trial Team’s TWEN page (2016-17 National Mock Trial Team”) and sign-up for a tryout slot under the “sign-up sheets” tab on the TWEN page. Once you have signed up for a tryout slot, please e-mail a current resume to Professor Schaffzin at dschffzn@memphis.edu. You can access the tryout case file, State of Lone Star v. Martin, under the “Tryouts Case File” tab on the TWEN page.
