Napier-Looby Scholarship Deadline Extended

UPDATE:  The deadline has been extended to January 4, 2022.

The Napier-Looby Bar Association (NLBA) has opened applications for the Senator Avon N. Williams, Jr., and Hon. Robert Lillard Law School Scholarship. This scholarship was established by the Napier-Looby Bar Foundation (NLBF). The NLBF, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded by the membership of the Napier-Looby Bar Association (NLBA) in 2001, to raise funds for scholarships and charitable donations to benefit worthy organizations and persons of need in the black and minority communities in Middle Tennessee.  The Foundation named these scholarships after the late Senator Avon N. Williams, Jr., a distinguished legislator, attorney, and member of the NLBA, and the late Hon. Robert Lillard, a distinguished advocate, jurist, and member of the NLBA.

The amount of the scholarship is $1,000 minimum. The application is due on or before December 1, 2021. Applicants should be endorsed by a member in good standing of the NLBA. Recipients will be announced on or before January 14, 2022. Successful candidates will be honored at the NLBF’s Barrister’s Banquet and Awards Program in February 2022.  Recipients will be expected to attend the banquet. Completed applications should be submitted to Angela Williams at napierloobybarfoundation@gmail.com.

A copy of the application can be received by emailing Dean McClellan at smcclell@memphis.edu. A copy of the application is also being sent to all affinity group presidents and their faculty advisors to distribute to their membership.  Please note that Memphis Law students have received this scholarship in the past, so students are strongly encouraged to apply.
