Teams will compete by doing a brief (1.5-3 hour) criminal trial against each other in competition for the championship. Participation in Moot Court’s competitions will help you earn a spot on the Moot Court Board, and competitors need only write a one-to-five-page motion in limine to participate.

As a reminder, the Moot Court Board’s Associate Chief Justice for the Mock Trial Competition, Zach Monroe, will also be providing two workshops next week in preparation for the competition problem.

  • The first workshop will be at 12PM on Tuesday, January 25, in the Historic Courtroom and will focus on trial tactics, an overview of direct and cross examination, and provide general tips and tricks.
  • The second workshop at 2:30PM on Friday, January 28, in the Historic Courtroom will provide an overview of the rules of evidence related to the competition .

Food will be provided at BOTH workshops, so do NOT miss out on these amazing opportunities to learn more about trial advocacy!
