Mock Trial Competition Interest Meeting TOMORROW at NOON!
This Spring, Memphis Law and the Moot Court Board will be hosting our annual school-wide Mock Trial Tournament! The Mock Trial Competition is open to all 2Ls and 3Ls, but there will be workshops open to all who are interested. The interest meeting will be this Thursday, January 20th in the Historic Courtroom and lunch will be provided.
Moot Court is the Appellate Phase of a case and Mock Trial is the Trial Phase of a case. Teams will compete by doing a brief (2-3 hour) criminal trial against each other in competition for the championship. Participation in Moot Court’s competitions will help you earn a spot on the Moot Court Board, and competitors need only write a one-to-two-page motion in limine to participate.
If you are completely new to the idea of trial work, don’t worry! The Moot Court Board will host two workshops to help you with the skills that you need. Associate Chief Justice of the Mock Trial Competition, Zach Monroe, will lead the workshops and will include short simulated presentations.
Taking trial advocacy or evidence? Come to the workshops for tips and then compete to hone your skills! Taken them already? Come get a refresher before you head out into practice and compete for the championship! We look forward to seeing you at the interest meeting!
