March is Women’s History Month
MARCH IS WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH!
As requested by Congress, President Reagan issued a Presidential Proclamation declaring the week beginning on March 7, 1982 as the first Women’s History Week. In 1987 after being petitioned by the National Women’s History Project, Congress designated the month of March as “Women’s History Month”. President Reagan then issued a Presidential Proclamation. Subsequent Presidents have continued to issue an annual proclamation designating March as “Women’s History Month.”
