Important OSCAR Dates in 2025 

Access to OSCAR 

Current third-year law students and law school graduates can register for an OSCAR applicant account at any time. Students who entered law school in 2023, the graduating class of 2026, will gain access to OSCAR to register for an account, upload documents, search for positions, and build applications on January 21, 2025, at 8 a.m. EST.

NOTE: Students who attend law school part-time or who seek a dual degree may have a later law school graduation date but meet the requirement of having two full years of grades. These students can register for OSCAR as alternate graduate date applicants.

Application Release for Class of 2026

Finalized clerkship applications from current third-year law students and law school graduates are immediately visible to judges and chambers. For students who from the graduating class of 2026OSCAR will release online applications on June 9, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. EDT. Visit the Hiring Plan page in OSCAR for more information. 

What’s Coming in OSCAR?  

On April 28, 2025, OSCAR will release a software update. Stay tuned for details as the date approaches. Also, be on the lookout for an invitation to a live webinar on managing applicants and applications in OSCAR that will be delivered in February.  

New Feature: How to Create, Add, and Edit Custom Tags 

The latest OSCAR upgrade simplifies clerkship application management for LSAs with a new custom tagging featureallowing them to create, add, edit, and manage custom tags for their Applicants and Recommenders lists. For detailed instructions, login to OSCAR and read our LSA blog in OSCAR.

New Feature: Uploading and Attaching the AO 78

When required, applicants can now upload and attach that all-important AO 78, the standard federal judicial employment form, to their law clerk applications. For more background and instructions, read our online help article  on this new functionality, released in the latest OSCAR upgrade.
