Reminder: *Important* 3L Loan Repayment Meeting: Road to Zero & Debt Counseling
Attention all 3Ls:
Kim Siwarski, Education Services Manager of Access Group, will be hosting a workshop on Debt Counseling for all 3L students on Wednesday, February 7th at 12:00 p.m. in Room 244. Please make every effort to attending this meeting. Lunch will be provided.
There is still time to sign up! Additionally you can sign up for an individual debt counseling session with Kim Siwarski via this Doodle link. Sessions will last about 20 minutes each, and they will be held in room 338. Times vary on both Wednesday, February 7th and Thursday, February 8th. These sessions are for students who would like more detailed guidance. It is highly recommend that you attend the group session to get a base knowledge of repayment prior to your appointment. Space is limited, and for this reason appointments will be made on a first come first serve basis.
There is some preparation needed for the individual debt counseling sessions:
- Print out loan record from https://www.nslds.ed.gov/npas/index.htm. This will allow the presenter to give you the most accurate and detailed information possible including payment estimates under the various plans available.
- Review the loan repayment plan options contained in The Road to Zero: A Strategic Approach to Student Loan Repayment at https://www.accesslex.org/federal-student-loan-repayment-road-zero
- Begin to think about your short- and long-term financial and career goals.
The items above are very important pre-appointment steps to ensure that you get the most out of your allotted time. Otherwise the time is spent looking up your loans and explaining the repayment plan basics.
