Facing History & Ourselves Youth Policy Incubator Opportunity (paid opportunity)
As a pipelining initiative, the Memphis Law Office of Diversity & Inclusion has partnered with Facing History & Ourselves to develop a “Youth Policy & Action Course” targeted at high school aged youth. With the opportunity to work alongside Facing History staff, and participating students, this project is the perfect opportunity for students passionate about working with youth, especially to amplify the voice of young people and promote youth civic engagement.
The aim of the Youth Policy & Action Course is to help youth understand the basics of policy making and the major steps for youth policy development, including implementation, delivery, and evaluation. The Incubator will begin convening on a regular schedule, chosen by incubator members, in late January with delivery of the completed project in early April.
This is a paid opportunity. The exact amount for participation in the incubator is expected to be between $750-$1000 for the spring semester with delivery of payment at the midway point of the project and on project completion. Although this is a paid opportunity, only those with a demonstrated commitment to youth, education, and/or policy development need apply. The incubator is expected to be comprised of 3-4 individuals with varying skill sets and strengths to maximize the potential of project impact. Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to Abby Gardner at lgrdner2@memphis.edu no later than January 3, 2020 at 5pm.
