Combating Islamophobia Through the Legal System; Room 326; October 13, 2022; 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
This seminar at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law will examine the existence of anti-Muslim bias in the judicial system, U.S. governmental institutions, and textbooks used in law schools across the nation. The course will examine how courts, law schools, and Muslim students have navigated these issues of bias and pushed for systemic, institutional change. The speakers will also discuss specific examples of cases in which anti-Muslim bias has been litigated in the courts.
