Call for Expression of Interest
We are exploring the possibility of offering a two-semester seminar course with the first semester scheduled for Summer 2020 and the second semester scheduled for Fall 2020. One of many factors relevant to whether we offer the course is student interest. The anticipated course description is below. If you would enroll in this course if offered in Summer 2020/Fall 2021, please email Dean Wilson (jlwlson2@memphis.edu) indicating your interest; please use the following subject line for your email: “Interest in Summer/Fall Seminar.” This is only an inquiry; if this course is offered, we will announce an addition to the summer schedule.
Course Description: In this course, students will write and present a paper on a topic in the health law field. This seminar will provide students with an opportunity to perform in-depth research. The purpose of this seminar and its subject paper is not to survey areas of health law, but instead, it is designed to have the students become an expert in one narrow facet of health law through an individual, self-selected project. Students will also practice writing well by following a strict schedule to organize their thoughts and then learn about critique by presenting their topics to an audience. This seminar will be two-semesters. The first semester is two credits; the second semester is one credit. The second semester of this seminar will be scheduled during the lunch hour to minimize conflicts. This class is structured as a two-semester course to allow students more time to develop an idea and see it to fruition in a final paper that is of publishable quality.
