BE A WITNESS FOR THE NATIONAL TRIAL TEAM!

As it prepares for the upcoming National Trial Competition, the Law School’s National Trial Team is in need of witnesses for its practices this weekend (February 3rd and 4th) and next weekend (February 10th and 11th). The practice trials are held in the Historic Courtroom and will be in the afternoons (specific times TBD) on each of the identified days. This year’s case, United States of Lone Star v. Stevie Tyler, involves charges of possession of heroin with the intent to distribute. The complete case file can be found here: http://www.tyla.org/tyla/assets/File/2016-2017%20Regional%20Competition.pdf.

In addition to helping the National Trial Team ready for competition, participation as a witness is a wonderful introduction to and/or refresher in oral advocacy, trial practice and procedure, and the rules of evidence. We are usually able to coordinate credit toward the student pro bono requirement for participation as a witness.

If you are interested in assisting the Trial Team as a witness, or otherwise have any questions, please contact Professor Schaffzin (dschffzn@memphis.edu/(215) 380-0969) as soon as possible.
