April Wellness Class

For those of you who were able to attend the Wellness Panel last week, we are officially bringing Stephanie Congo for the Wellness Classes throughout April.  The classes will run from 12-12:30pm every Wednesday, and will be designed to give mindfulness and breathing tools that we can take away and apply throughout our day.  We are planning on having the class in room 006, but that may change.  Look forward to seeing everyone there!  Be well.

The instructor is Stephanie Congo, a local yoga and wellness teacher, Stephanie has provided an explanation of the class:

Intro to Mindfulness, Movement & Meditation

4 Class Series

approx. 30 minutes in length

approx. 12-12:30pm Wednesdays in April leading up to final exam weeks

When we take a moment to stop and pause, we help to reset the brain and foster resilience for handling stress in easier ways.  This 4-class series integrates three core practices to improve your attention and performance in your life and academics via the brain: mindfulness, movement and meditation.  Taking time to think about your thoughts, breathing, posture, and the like are valuable to overall cognitive functioning.  Taking time to move your body and your energy in beneficial ways can help promote wellness and peak performance.  We will be learning tools known to be:

  • Effective for stress & anxiety
  • Improve brain function & memory
  • Release tension & discomfort in the body
  • Keep the immune system strong

These core practices are “weightlifting” for the brain and helpful for mental clarity, focus and self-discipline.  With regular daily practice, when we create gaps in our usual stream of thinking, spaciousness arises and thus, an inner peace that is vibrant and alive.
