ACLU-TN Public Interest Clerkship/ Pro Bono Opportunity
ACLU-TN is currently seeking applications from first and second-year law students for summer 2016 clerkships. Applications will be accepted until March 18, 2016; however, decisions will be made as applications are received. Students are encouraged to apply early as the positions may be filled before the application deadline.
Summer clerks are expected to work full time for 10 weeks. Law clerks working at ACLU-TN gain practical experience in the full range of civil liberties and constitutional rights cases. Students are involved in research and preparation of legal memoranda, fact investigations, client and witness interviews, discovery, pre-trial motions, handling of expert witnesses, and accompanying lawyers at court appearances. Law clerks have the opportunity to work closely with ACLU-TN’s legal department, cooperating attorneys around the state, and attorneys at the national offices of the ACLU in New York and Washington, DC.
Due to ACLU-TN’s limited resources, all law clerk positions are unpaid. The hours would count toward your Pro Bono requirement. Please also note this position is in Nashville.
More information about ACLU-TN can be found at www.aclu-tn.org/lawclerk.htm or by calling (615) 320-7142.
