A Message From “Team Captain” Dean Mulroy About The 2015 Race For The Cure: Oct. 31, 2015 Downtown
As you may have heard, the Race for the Cure is moving DOWNTOWN this year on October 31, 2015 at 9 a.m. . The Law School will be forming a team for the Race this year. I have agreed to serve as Team Captain. I’d like to encourage you to join our team by running with us in the Race For The Cure. It would also help if you could join the fundraising efforts for this charitable cause (which you can do even if you can’t run the race).
The Race route will begin at AutoZone Park and head to Front Street and continue past the Law School and Raymond James to Riverside Drive. Then the Race will proceed up Beale Street and down the newly dedicated B. B. King Boulevard around the FedEx forum, with the final stretch passing the Peabody and ending back at AutoZone Park. This day promises to be very exciting for downtown. Many downtown businesses are lighting up Pink and decorating Pink for the Race week. Raymond James will have a pink balloon arch across Front Street for Race day.
For every dollar that Komen Memphis-Mid South raises, 75% stays here in our community for local breast screenings, treatments and breast care support programs. The remaining 25% is required to go to breast cancer research through national Susan G. Komen research grants. Since 1993, Komen Memphis-Mid South has granted over $9.4 million to breast health care services in our community and over $2.4 million for national breast cancer research.
The goal is to make it possible for the uninsured and underinsured to always have access to competent breast health care. Komen dollars make a huge difference in our community, and with your help we can make even more of a difference to many women in our community.
