Law Clerk Positions for Trial Court Judges in Murfreesboro, Tennessee

The Circuit and Chancery Court Judges of the 16th Judicial District will have openings for judicial clerkships to begin in the August 2026. Preference will be given to those who have passed the Bar Exam or those who are taking the Bar in 2026. The projected starting salary for this position is $56,000 to $62,000 and is subject to the approved pay scale of Rutherford County Government. The expected length of the clerkship is one year. Successful candidates will work closely with a Criminal or Civil Trial Court Judge and their respective Judicial Assistant.

Duties include preparing dockets, drafting orders, conducting legal research, preparing jury instructions, coordinating with attorneys and assist in the daily operations of court proceedings.

It is anticipated that the positions will become available in August 2026. However, the exact start date will be determined by each individual judge. Once the application deadline has passed, qualified applicants will be contacted for interviews.
