3Ls: Post Grad State Clerkships, Apply by Thursday September 30
1) Judge Carma McGee of the Tennessee Court of Appeals seeks a judicial clerk to begin in August 2022 and serve a term of 1 year. Judge McGee’s Chambers are in Savannah, TN. Applicant must be in the to 50% of their class. Apply by September 30 via Symplicity OCI, “FALL 2021 OCI: The Honorable Carma McGee.” On Campus Interviews will be held on October 12.
2) Judge Camille R. McMullen of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals, in Memphis, Tennessee seeks a clerk to begin approximately August 1, 2022 and continue through July 31, 2023. Candidates must be current 3L’s or a recent graduate from the University of Memphis School of Law . Strongly prefer candidates who are top 10% of class, a member of the University of Memphis Law Review or other law journal, and have received top marks in all Legal Research and Writing Courses. 3) Judge Steven Stafford, the Presiding Judge of the Western Section of the Tennessee Court of Appeals, is seeking a clerk for the August 2022-August 2023 term in his office in Dyersburg, TN. Individuals should be excellent writers and independent thinkers who are willing to give small town life a try in order to gain valuable experience and networking opportunities. Judge Stafford’s clerks have gone on to a variety of different law careers, including private practice at big and small firms, Tennessee Supreme Court clerkships, federal clerkships, the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office, the Tennessee Appellate Public Defender’s Office, and state circuit court judgeships.
Judge Stafford is seeking candidates with these preferred qualifications:
Top 1/3 of the class
Journal and/or moot court experience
Excellent research and writing skills
