3Ls: Post-Grad Clerkship with the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals

The Honorable Camille McMullen of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals (Memphis) is seeking applicants for an open clerkship position that will begin August 2023 and continue through July 2024. Judge McMullen’s previous law clerks have moved on to become In-House Counsel, Assistant U.S. Attorneys, Assistant Attorneys General, Assistant District Attorneys, and of course have gone on to practice both civil and criminal law at prestigious firms. It is clear that having one or two years of experience as a law clerk, with all the research, analytical thinking, and writing that it entails, opens the door to even more opportunities than a law student would have immediately upon graduation.

Here are the requirements for the clerkship:
Candidates must be current 3Ls or a recent graduate from the University of Memphis School of Law
Strongly prefer candidates who are top 10% of class, a member of the University of Memphis Law Review or other law journal, and have received top marks in all Legal Research and Writing Courses
Cover letter, resume, references, transcript, and writing sample are required
Deadline to apply is Sunday October 2, 2022. Apply via Symplicity OCI, “FALL 2022 OCI: The Honorable Camille McMullen.”

Interviews of selected applicants will be scheduled by Judge McMullen’s office.
