Eleventh Judicial District of Tennessee Chancery Court 2020-2021 Judicial Clerkship
The Chancery Court of Hamilton County is seeking applicants for the position of 2020-2021 Law Clerk. The clerk has the unique opportunity to observe the judicial process from the perspective of the decisionmaker. The clerk will become knowledgeable in a multiple practice areas, from corporate law to domestic disputes. Additionally, the clerk will become familiar with the Chattanooga legal community.
Job Description:
The clerk works for Chancellors Jeffrey M. Atherton and Pamela A. Fleenor, as well as Clerk and Master Robin L. Miller. The clerk’s responsibilities include: conducting legal research, drafting memoranda, orders, and opinions, and attending docket call, oral arguments, and trials. Job Details:
The position lasts for one year, beginning on or around August 1, 2019, and ending on or around July 31, 2020.
The clerk will earn an annual salary of approximately $41,000, payable bi-weekly. Upon passage of the Tennessee Bar Examination, the annual salary will increase to a total of approximately $46,500, with the additional $5,500 to be paid out bi-weekly during the remainder of the clerkship.
Benefits include: eligibility to receive health and retirement benefits available to new Hamilton County employees, free parking, membership dues for one year in the Chattanooga and Tennessee Bar Associations (as well as those for the Young Lawyers’ Division of the Chattanooga Bar Association), and fees for up to 15 hours of approved CLE.
