3Ls – NCBE Field Testing (sign-up ends today (11/27))

The National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) has invited University of Memphis students and 2022–2023 graduates to participate in an in-person field test of the NextGen bar exam on Friday, January 26, 2024. Participants who complete the approximately two-hour field test will each receive a $350 stipend and can select their preferred payment option (PayPal or direct deposit/ACH). ·         To participate, you must be a 3L/4L student within your final semester of law school, a 2022–2023 graduate, or an LLM student pursuing initial licensure to practice law in the United States. You must have a valid Social Security number to receive compensation. You cannot be a law school faculty or staff member, adjunct, or lecturer; be affiliated with a bar prep program; or be a bar prep program student representative.

·         The two-hour field test will be administered at our school in person on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 1:00 PM. The total time, including check-in, will be approximately three hours.

·         You will need to use your own laptop to take the field test, and prior to the test, you will be required to:

  • complete NCBE’s payment vendor information and select your preferred payment option,
  • download NCBE’s testing app,
  • take a short mock exam to familiarize yourself with the testing platform, and
  • download the field test files three days prior to the exam.

·         All field test materials are confidential. You will need to consent to NCBE’s participant agreement to participate. Your information and the responses you submit will be used for field test administration and research purposes.

·         Testing conditions will mirror bar exam testing conditions. You will not be permitted to bring any personal items to your workstation other than your laptop and a clear water bottle without labels.

·         As a thank you for your time and efforts, you will receive a $350 payment from NCBE after researchers confirm that you completed the field test.

If you are interested in participating in the in-person field test, please log in to your NCBE Account, click the NextGen Field Test Sign-Up icon in the left side menu, and follow the prompts to submit your information by Monday, November 27; the required referral code for this invitation is LS084: Login – NCBE Account (ncbex.org).

NCBE’s research team will select a diverse and representative pool of participants. If you are selected to participate, you will receive an email by Thursday, December 7 with instructions and next steps. In the meantime, please save Friday, January 26, 2024 on your calendar.
