2Ls & 3Ls: Paid Internships with Neighborhood Preservation, Inc.
Neighborhood Preservation, Inc. (NPI) is looking to hire a law student or two as paid interns for the Eviction Right to Counsel program, being run in conjunction with the Memphis and Shelby County Emergency Rental Assistance program. The intern’s role would involve directing the eviction counseling component of the Right to Counsel program. Not every tenant who applies to our program can receive representation due to demand; some tenants are instead assisted through a counseling arm and can receive non-legal guidance (e.g. advice on how to apply for Emergency Rental Assistance, referrals to other social services, a copy of our what to do if you’re facing eviction guide).
A law student has directed this component of the Right to Counsel program this summer, working roughly 15 hours a week. NPI would like to bring on a Memphis Law intern or two to continue the work this fall. There would be flexibility as far as time commitment – anywhere from 5 to 15 hours a week would work – and the rate of compensation would be $20 per hour.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and the position(s) is only open until filled. Apply via Symplicity Post 6295.
