1L Advising Workshop & Information

Dear 1Ls,

Fall Registration is the week of April 12.  Below is some information that will be helpful as you start thinking about your schedule for next fall and beyond.

Fall 2021 Course Schedule

The Fall 2021 Course Schedule is available here.

Advocacy, Business, Health, and Tax Law Certificates

We offer four certificates for law students:  Advocacy, Business, Health, and Tax.

At the Certificate Interest Meeting on March 15, certificate advisors provided information about the certificates, including requirements and how to declare your interest in pursuing a certificate.  You can view a recording of the session here.  (The password for the recording is:  j&Q6jrR#).  You can also find more about our certificates here or declare your interest here.

If you think you are interested in Advocacy, Business, Health, and/or Tax, I strongly encourage you to learn more about these opportunities.

Academic Advising Workshop

On Friday, March 19 @ 11:00 a.m., Dean Wilson will host an Academic Advising Workshop for 1Ls.  All 1Ls should plan to attend this session for important information about graduation requirements and advising.

Individual Academic Advising

After Dean Wilson’s advising sessions, we will assign each 1L to work with an academic advisor, who will be either a professor or dean.  You can schedule an individual meeting with the academic advisor to plan your schedule for the fall and beyond.  We anticipate that academic advising meetings will take place during the last week of March and/or in early April.

Students who declare their interest in pursuing Advocacy, Business, Health, or Tax Law Certificates will be assigned to that certificate advisor for academic advising.

Additional Advising Resources

In the coming weeks, we will also provide more information about other advising resources that will be helpful as you prepare for your meetings with your advisor and as you plan your classes for the fall semester.  In the meantime, you may find additional information here helpful.

Thanks,
Dean Aden
