Apply Now for Gideon’s Promise Clerkships in Nashville, Knoxville, other locations
Gideon’s Promise has extended the deadline to apply for select unfilled internships. They will continue to review and place applicants, on a rolling basis, until April 15th, 2016. Specifically, positions are still open in Nashville and Knoxville, as well as in Birmingham, AL, Augusta, GA, Lumberton, NC, and Charleston, WV.
This pipeline program places law school students in our Gideon’s Promise partner offices for the summer – roughly 6-8 weeks. Clerks are paired with a Gideon’s Promise-trained lawyer, exposed to indigent defense practice, and the Gideon’s Promise network of support. Clerks gain valuable experience drafting legal documents, conducting witness and client interviews, jail visits, assisting public defenders with cases, briefs, motions, and will have opportunities to conduct legal research, and much, much more.
Prior to the beginning their clerkships, selected students will attend an orientation in Atlanta hosted by Gideon’s Promise, the Southern Center for Human Rights, and other Atlanta-based public interest organizations. Summer law clerks will have the opportunity to network with like-minded students and to hone skills they will employ throughout their clerkships.
