LATINO MEMPHIS SUMMER INTERNSHIP
Latino Memphis’ in-house immigration legal practice, Derechos Immigration Program, provides accessible legal representation to low-income people within the jurisdiction of the Memphis Immigration Court, in Memphis, TN. In addition to direct representation, Derechos also engages in outreach and community programs to disseminate information and build relationships and coalitions throughout the region.
Derechos is offering a ten-week 35 hour per week summer internship. The intern will be working with immigration attorneys representing clients in immigration matters, defensively in immigration court and through affirmative petitions. It is preferred, but not required, that the intern speak Spanish. Under the supervision of our attorneys, the intern will have the opportunity for hands on experience interviewing clients, compiling client information, drafting correspondence, preparing applications, performing legal research, and attending immigration court. Additionally, the intern will be assigned a project to be completed over the course of their term.
