3Ls: Missouri Law Firm with Memphis Connection Seeks Associates
Brown & James, P.C. seeks an associate attorney for its St. Louis, Kansas City, and Belleville, Missouri offices.
From Hiring Committee Member Remington Harris: I was born in Memphis, TN, and grew up in the Raleigh/Bartlett area before moving to West Memphis, AR. Most of my family still lives in the Whitehaven/Germantown areas. I have been at Brown & James, PC for three years now and now sit on the Hiring Committee.
Brown & James primarily does defense of insurance companies. Many of our partners practice in medical and legal malpractice, consumer and business, construction, transportation, and general tort practice (e.g. premises, negligence, defamation, etc.). We routinely try cases to completion and through trial.
First year associates can expect to second-chair trials, conduct depositions of plaintiffs and fact witnesses, defend depositions of insureds, independently try small-claims matters, argue substantive dispositive motions, and draft pleadings, discovery, and pre-trial motions. Put plainly, first year associates can expect to garner first-hand experience at a faster rate than most civil litigation firms.
