2023-2024 NATIONAL MOCK TRIAL TEAM TRYOUTS
National Trial Competition: The National Trial Competition is the largest law school mock trial competition in the country. Co-sponsored by the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the American College of Trial Lawyers, it is designed to expose law students to the nature of trial practice. Each year, over 140 law schools and more than 1,000 law students participate in 13 regional competitions, with 26 teams advancing to nationals.
Regional Competition: The National Trial Team will compete in the regional rounds of the National Trial Competition hosted by Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama from February 16-19, 2024. We will begin weekly meetings in October, and the competition problem is usually released in late November. Practices will be held during the winter holiday break, but not between December 21, 2023, and January 2, 2024.
Tryout Dates and Times: Tryouts will be held Friday, September 29th, with additional times on Saturday, September 30th (as needed). All the information needed for sign-up and preparation for trying out is available on the National Mock Trial Team’s TWEN page.
Registration: Interested students should register for the National Mock Trial Team’s TWEN page (2023-2024 National Trial Team) and sign-up for a tryout slot under the “sign-up sheets” tab on the TWEN page. Once you have signed up for a tryout slot, please e-mail a current resumé to Coach Welsh at Brigid.Welsh@memphis.edu. Please register for your National Trial Team tryout by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27th.
