We would like to uplift the Hate Crimes Community Engagement Working Group (HACCEN)’s upcoming event, a conversation about hate crimes motivated by bias against race, ethnicity, and/or ancestry. The agenda includes:

• Welcome from Mayya Saab, executive director, Faith-Based Information Sharing & Analysis Organization
• Threat brief by Chris Donohue, supervisory special agent, FBI New York
• Panel discussion with experts:
  • Ramona Carroll, program manager, Community Impact Unit, Fairfax County, Virginia. Ramona has been deeply involved with community and interfaith initiatives, including efforts to combat hate crimes, for years at a local level.
  • Rev. Carmen Hernandez, president, New York State Coalition of Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Carmen has been an advocate and activist in the South East Bronx community for 40 years.
  • Chris Kwok, board member for the Asian American Bar Association of New York. Chris was the lead author for the bar association’s report on hate crimes.
